Richard III

The historical drama Richard III is believed to have been written around 1592. Shakespeare portrays one of England’s most unpopular rulers as physically deformed and villainous, but at the same time witty and courageous, a man who will commit murders with a cheerful grin to feed his avarice. Adapted extensively for film, television and the theatre, Richard III is noted for its meditations on the nature of evil and the idea of fate versus free will.
